Dr. Masera has a bachelor in Physics from the UNAM and a Master and PhD in Energy and Resources from UC, Berkeley. Currently he is full-time professor at the IIES, UNAM where he is also Director of the Bioenergy Laboratory and the Ecotechnology Innovation Research Unit. He leads the “Patsari Cookstove Project” in Mexico. He also has published 6 books, more than 260 peer reviewed publications, and several research reports. He serves in the editorial board of 4 international journals. He received the National Research Award for young scientists of the Mexican Academy of Sciences in 2000, the Nobel Peace Price in 2007 as a member of IPCC, the Ashden Awards to Sustainable Energy in 2006. He also leads the Cluster of Solid Biufuels.
