Dolores Barrientos Alemán

As UN Environment Director for Mexico, Dolores Barrientos has led projects focused on biodiversity conservation, climate change, chemicals, the promotion of renewable energies and the Green Economy Initiative. Ms. Barrientos contributed to Mexico´s legal environmental framework through the General Climate Change Law (2012) and the Energy Transition Law (2015). She acted as Senior Specialist on Climate Change and Sustainable Energy for the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB). Before that, she built a sound career in international finance during 18 years in the Mexican Bank for Foreign Trade (BANCOMEXT). She is recognized as an expert in Climate Finance. Ms. Barrientos holds a Bachelor´s Degree in Economics from “Tecnológico de Monterrey” and a Master´s in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University (MPA2/1995).
