Diego Villarreal Singer is the Managing Director of Electric Industry Coordination at the Ministry of Energy (SENER). He holds degrees in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry from Purdue University, and a master’s degree and a Ph.D in Environmental Engineering from Columbia University. Previously, he was Deputy Managing Director of Electric Industry Coordination at the Ministry of Energy, where he worked on the implementation of the new Mexican Electricity Market. Prior to joining SENER, Diego was a researcher at the Lenfest Center for Sustainable Energy at Columbia University where he worked on the optimization of large-scale storage systems in electricity markets. Before earning his doctorate, Diego worked in finance for startup company Lytix. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of CENACE.
