Eduardo Meraz Ateca
CENACE (National Center for Energy Control)
Eduardo Meraz joined Mexico’s Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) in 1976 to work at the National Center for Energy Control (CENACE) which he left in 2012, after having reached the highest position as Deputy Director. In 2014 he joined Mexico’s Energy Ministry as Director General and participated in the Energy Reform working groups. That year he was appointed Director General of the newly-created CENACE detached from CFE.
He is an Industrial Electric Engineer from La Laguna Technological Institute, with Master studies in Electrical Power Systems. In 2007 he received the “Salvador Cisneros Chávez” Award, which CFE grants to distinguished professionals in Mexico’s electricity sector.
In June 2017, he was elected Vice President of Programs and Events in the Mexican Member Committee of the World Energy Council.
